Redwood Nature Area Restoration
Please join us this Saturday! We will work at the Redwood Nature Area along the Jordan River to help restore native plants and fence existing cottonwood trees, in anticipation of future tree plantings! We will park at the end of Chesterfield Ave at about 2700 S then walk south along the river to the pond we're planting around here. Look for the green TreeUtah flags, tent, and truck to find your way from parking to the site.
Please join us at 9am sharp. We'll work until we're done, by noon at the latest. We're planting woody perennials like woods rose and currant to help shade the soil, and fence existing cottonwood trees to protect them from beavers. This coming fall, we'll be back to plant more cottonwoods and further add native diversity to the site. Thanks to Salt Lake County Flood Control and Salt Lake County Parks and Rec for making this planting possible.
Please be sure to wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and clothing you can get dirty. Bring your own reusable water bottle. We will have a water refill station, coffee, tea and snacks available. We recommend you check the weather forecast before you arrive.
Please sign up with our registration form so we know to expect you there! If you have any questions, feel free to call or text 801-573-5685.
Please see below for a map on how to get to the Redwood Nature Area.
