Tracy Aviary Nature Center at Pia Okwai Tree Planting Event!
Join us on Saturday, April 11th, from 9am to noon to plant trees at Tracy Aviary's Nature Center at Pia Okwai!
Address is 3350 S 1000 W, South Salt Lake, UT 84119
Please note, google maps will take you to the west parking lot off 3300 S, which is usually closed. Please proceed to the new large lot, accessed off of 1000 W street.
When you arrive, look for the green TreeUtah tent and check in. Once everyone's there, we'll do a welcome, planting demonstration with arborists, and safety talk. Then we'll break into groups and get planting! We will bring all the tools, trees, soil amendments, safety equipment, light snacks, drinks and trained staff to guide you.
Pia Okwai is a relatively new and growing public park space hosted by the Tracy Aviary that has interpretive sites, bird blinds, and nature areas to explore. It's location is in the heart of the Jordan River (Pia Okwai) Trail, situated between Utah Lake and the Great Salt Lake. We will be planting trees and native pollinator plants to this newly restored landscape that will serve the migrating birds, creatures, and people in the valley for generations to come.
We ask that you wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and clothing you don't mind getting dirty. Please bring your own refillable water bottle. TreeUtah will make sure there are plenty of snacks for you at the table and fizzy beverages on hand in the cooler. We will wrap up by or before noon.
Please sign up here, (waiver included), so that we know to expect you!
If you have any questions or trouble finding the event day-of, you may reach out to Amy at 801-573-5685. Looking forward to planting with you!

TreeUtah is dedicated to making our events accessible to everyone. Planting trees might sound intimidating, but it’s a task anyone can help with! Our events are open to everyone across the spectrums of age, experience, and abilities. Whether you show up to lend your hands to dig holes, your eyes to ensure trees are upright, or your voice to keep us encouraged, you are welcome to plant trees with TreeUtah. If you want to plant trees with us, we will work with you to accommodate your needs and we will be happy to have you join us!
