Alta Tree Harvest

Join us on Saturday, August 26th at 8:30am at the Albion Basin Area to harvest saplings from ski runs!

The Alta Environmental Center is hosting this event alongside TreeUtah. We are excited to have you join us! Registration for this event is required. Please register on the Alta website at https://www.alta.com/events/treeutah-harvest-and-restoration.

We will meet at the Albion Base Area, 10520 E Day Lodge Rd, Alta, UT 84092. Look for our Volunteer Check-In sign and an AEC staff member will be there to check you in.

Please come prepared with water, comfortable, close-toed shoes, sunscreen, and clothes appropriate for the weather. We recommend a few light layers, as it can be chilly in the morning, followed by sunshine. We also recommend a hat as the sun is strong at this elevation. If you have work gloves, please bring those. 

The following is a short agenda for the day and predicted weather conditions.

8:30 AM - 9:00 AM: Meet at Albion Base Area and Check-In with an AEC staff member.

9:00 AM: Depart from Albion Base Area; We will shuttle or hike to the location on the mountain where we will be harvesting the saplings.

12:00 PM: Return from harvest for snacks and refreshments. 

*Please note, we will be hiking to the location on the mountain. Expect a hike of about ¾ of a mile with moderate uphill elevation gain. We will be going slowly, but it is good to keep in mind you will be hiking at an elevation of about 8,500-9,000ft.
